Sold Out Theme Song??

What's up Sell Outs?

I got to thinking today about the last song we sang last night at Sold Out, called "The Stand" by Hillsong United. We played that song for the first time yesterday, and to be honest, I was just intent on learning the song so we could play it. When I listened to it at work yesterday and when we practiced before group last night, I wasn't really focusing on the lyrics. All I had in mind was what I would be doing/playing at different points in the song. It was a powerful song, but I hadn't completely grasped the power of the words we sang until today.

Something Ryan said last night as we practiced stuck with me. He said that he loved this line of the song: "So I'll stand / With arms high and heart abandoned." That hit me today as I listened to the song again. And I began to focus on the lyrics. Right now, I honestly cannot think of a song which more prefectly describes our ministry in Sold Out (and Christianity, period, for that matter) than "The Stand."

I would encourage you to really pay attention to the words of the song (I included them below). I cannot wait to play this again because now I "get" the meaning of this song.

It can be our rallying cry, our defense for why we are doing what we are doing in this ministry. "All I am is Yours."

THE STAND - Hillsong United

You stood before creation
Eternity within Your hand
You spoke the earth into motion
My soul now to stand

You stood before my failure
Carried the Cross for my shame
My sin weighed upon Your shoulders
My soul now to stand

So what can I say
What can I do
But offer this heart O God
Completely to You

So I'll walk upon salvation
Your Spirit alive in me
This life to declare Your promise
My soul now to stand

So what can I say
What can I do
But offer this heart O God
Completely to You

So I'll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all

So I'll stand
My soul Lord to You surrendered
All I am is Yours
